Proof that boys are just little men

I was greeted at Eli's preschool this morning with lots of giggles from the teachers. (We were careful not to let Eli know.) Yesterday his class was given the assignment to make their favorite letters in the Alphabet soup bowl and color it. Take a close look at Eli's favorite letters. Boys are just little men.

Snowball fight!!

We decided to get rid of the winter blues at our house. Today/Tonight we had our homemade winter party. To celebrate, we had a snowball fight with socks, played pin the carrot nose on our homemade snowman, and made marshmallow snowmen to eat. Grace's friend joined us.

Eli is whispering a strategy to Dad. We played boys against girls.

We wore winter gear during our games.

Ava decided to skip making the snowmen and got straight to eating.

Our snowmen were made from marshmallows, mike ikes, m & m 's, brownie, and pretzels.

Hensley Fundraisers

Our family is in the midst of an amazing adoption journey. We are very busy with paperchasing and going through the emotions of our adventure. As part of this, we are reaching the uncomfortable part of our journey...fundraising. However, we feel them necessary to bring Silas home. We have great friends helping us through this, and invite you to check out the fundraisers at:

Grace's Friend Book

Tucked away in Grace's school bag, I found this book she wrote. It is titled "My firends". It is sooo darling. On the cover you can see where she put her newest friend "Silas". See if you can spot him. On each page, she wrote about each friend she has and drew a picture of them with her. Here is the first page of her book. It reads "My firend is Silis". Cute, huh? She is so excited for him to come.

Wii are having fun now!

I'm totally not the type of person to let my kids play video games all day. However, we had a blast as a family playing bowling this weekend. The kids are naturally better than all of the adults who have played them. I guess their cool bowling moves and stunts really pay off. They mark in almost every frame. The Wii is defiantly a "family" activity and isn't like a typical video game because we actually move. Check out everyone's form in the pictures. Our friend Josh is pictured in one. Doesn't he look professional? We won't comment on Brian's form. HMMMM?

Happy Valentine's Day

Gracie and Eli woke us up bright and early this morning as they jumped in our bed to wish us a Happy Valentine's Day. This was my favorite Valentine Gift!! My little Valentine's suprised me with flowers yesterday and today! Brian woke up early and grabbed the kid's donuts before they opened their goodies from us. Afterward, we ran to play games at Chuck E. Cheese and lunch and ice cream at Potbelly's. We've had a great morning so far and I look forward to a nice family dinner and evening with my favorite people in the world.
Here are a couple of pics of the kiddos today. I love them so much.

Brian is picking up the kiddos play set at Toys R Us today also...but with the snow, it will be in the box for awhile. We are soooooo ready for Summer.

(He is so sweet in this pic...I could eat him)

A week in pictures

We had Brian's nephews over from a slumber party and some fun. The boys are here hanging out just before bed. Grace had Bri's niece Addie over too. We also all went to church together. Our friends their coined us "Jon and Kate plus 8". They all did really well and enjoyed singing and their classes.

This week we got outside to enjoy the weather! (Side note: It is snowing again today....yuck)

My Friday the 13th Nightmare

Apparently, on Friday the 13th you should not fear Freddy or Jason...you should fear Hamsters. I was putting "Angel" our hamster into his exercise ball to clean his cage this morning when he decided to clamp down on my finger and not let go. After some squeezing, I removed him, cleaned up the blood, and cleaned my finger out. Well...it isn't over. I have to get a tetanus shot. All of the kids are here today too. I'm doing my best to not let them know how painful it is. AAAAHHHH! Only me. Happy Friday the 13th.

I've been tagged...30 Random Things About me

I've been tagged several times to do this...so thought posting it would be the easiest. You'll learn more random things about me than you have ever wanted to know.

1. My five favorite people in the world are Brian, Grace, Elijah, Ava, and Silas (I love the rest of you too.)

2. I cannot remember character names in my shows, but I know all of the Wiggles, Transformers, Yo Gabba clan, etc... (you get the point)

3. If I have something that needs an answer, I fixate on it until it is found. I drive my husband crazy with this.

4. My mind often gets the best of me...either I'm dreaming or worrying.

5. I'd rather splurge on a vacation than clothes or material things. Making memories are worth everything to me. I don't know the name of the poem, but I love the poem that talks about ...in twenty years it won't matter what you drove, if your house was clean, etc...

6. I'm thrifty and have recently joined the club of cutting coupons.

7. My favorite color changes all the time. Today it is yellow. I'm dreaming of sunshine.

8. My lucky number is "7". I'm not sure why, but this is it.

9. I love to follow blogs and write my blogs.

10. I hang out with 1-5 year olds all day and they think I'm funny and don't mind my lack of make-up or style in my wardrobe.

11. Brian and I love to wrestle each other. (Mind out of the gutters people)

12. I'm addicted to scholastic book orders, and I order all of the $1.00 books.

13. I have never known which channel is which by station name. I surf the channels every time I watch t.v., as if I were at someone else's house.

14. I always have something to do. But when Brian makes me take time for me, I watch a Lifetime movie.

15. I lose socks and throw away mis-matches by the basket load.

16. My house has no color because I don't know what color to paint them. I have swatches taped to all the bedroom walls.

17. I'm becoming a master at international adoption paperwork and lingo.

18. I hate to fly...really hate to fly. God didn't make a plane. We are meant to be on our feet. I already worry about my Ethiopia trip. (Scary)

19. I would rather read a children's book than a book for myself because of time constraints.

20. I like to help people. (Hopefully I help people)

21. I talk to much sometimes and I am working on interrupting people. (sorry)

22. I love, love, love to take pictures. It embarrasses and probably annoys those closest to me.

23. I'm not a good cook. Shocker!!

24. I love to eat fruit snacks, laffy taffy's, and licorice...and had a bad root canal (My nerves don't numb). Therefore, I avoid the dentist.

25. I miss teaching in the schools, but wouldn't trade what I'm doing right now. I'm in the right place.

26. Sometimes when I sit down by myself to watch t.v., I'll realize after 10 minutes or so it is on a cartoon station or the T.V. Guide channel.

27. I don't like hospitals.

28. I fear kidney stones...a lot. Ouch...it feels like yesterday I had surgery and stones.

29. I often fill online carts and then abandon them.

30. Disney World is one of my favorite places.

Swimming Lessons

If anyone knows Grace and Eli well, you know that Gracie loves the water and Eli doesn't care for it. Grace smiles and giggles throughout her lessons. While Eli, like everything he does, is more timid.
Tonight, they actually both enjoyed their lesson. Grace's favorite stroke is the backstroke and Eli is just loving the fact that he gets in to his chin.
I'm so happy for both of them. Ava's class was canceled due to cold water. As you can see in the pix, she had fun doing other things tonight!

2 Legit to Quit

Okay...so being inside makes me a little crazy. But...my schedule this week is making me more crazy. It includes: 6:00 a.m. insurance meetings, adoption phone conferences, homestudy visits, haircuts, tax preparation receipt by receipt for the home daycare, tax appointment, parent night at the kids swimming lessons(...which yes people...means I got in with my nice winter tan) , and all the in between.

This post is tribute to all of you who loved the early 90's(especially to my little brother Aaron Hammer) . If you are feeling stressed, pump up Hammer and you'll be 2 Legit to Quit. Go ahead...you know you want to dance and make the 2 Legit hand motions.
Next post...Blame it on the Rain.
Okay...I'm done. I can't believe I'm posting this. Have a great day.
(Feel free to comment and leave your favorite 90's song. Who knows...maybe I'll post it.)HEEEEE! HEEEE!

Cabin Fever!

I had to post this picture. I found it today and it reminds me of how all the kiddos are feeling...full of "cabin fever". We cannot wait to get outside and play in the park and run around in the backyard.
So...thank you Mr. Groundhog for seeing your shadow. We appreciate the idea of 6 more weeks of winter.
(Fyi- Lucas is at Chuck E. Cheese here. Nobody was hurt during the stunt.)
